“By 2016 it will be possible to cover the railway line Trieste-Venice in an hour and to get to Milan from Trieste in three hours.”
This was confirmed by the President of the Region Friuli Venezia Giulia, Debora Serracchiani, speaking today in Trieste at the inauguration of the new hall of the headquarters of the insurance company Allianz Sad
The need to strengthen the rail links to and from Trieste was stressed in their speeches by Bäte Oliver, a member of the board of Allianz AG in Monaco, and Klaus-Peter Roehler, CEO of Allianz Italy. Both leaders stressed the great tradition of Trieste in the insurance, which is now confirmed by the contribution of the Trieste branch to research and innovation throughout the Allianz group in the world.
The President recalled that a few weeks before an important meeting between the Friuli Venezia Giulia Region and the managers of the Ferrovie dello Stato group took place in Rome, confirming the national commitments to the Friuli Venezia Giulia region, in particular the investment of 50 million euros for faster connections with Venice and Milan.
“Europe – president Serracchiani said – has seen and understood the strategic importance of these areas, choosing to place Trieste at the head of a European corridor which can restore the fundamental relationship between the port and the railway gradually dispersed over the years. Friuli Venezia Giulia Region – she continued – is well aware of the need to be at the side of companies of excellence and worldwide as Allianz, accompanying and supporting a path rooted in the territory and development work to ensure that our citizens. we can do it by strengthening the infrastructure and socio-economic characteristics that define the attractiveness of an area.”
